Greylock Federal Credit Union is encouraging the community to Shop Local this October. Small businesses make up a majority of the employers in the regional economy and have been some of the hardest hit by the pandemic. Greylock is offering a personal credit card incentive to remind members and cardholders to spend their money with local merchants, shops and restaurants.
“Small businesses are the backbone of our small towns and cities, and we all have a role in helping them survive the COVID-19 pandemic,” said President and CEO John L. Bissell. “Greylock helped more than 360 small businesses secure Payroll Protection Program loans earlier this year, but this crisis is far from over and we all need to do our part to keep our neighbors employed and help our local businesses thrive.”
The promotion rewards card holders who spend more than $500 total this month at small businesses in the communities Greylock serves, with a $10 bonus. If a member charges more than $1,000, the reward will be $25. Big box stores are excluded from the promotion.
“We will all get through by working together,” said Bissell.
